You *might* remember that I did another version of this Chan Luu inspired bracelet here. I really liked the way it looked in general but didn't feel like it was very "me" when I wore it. So this time I wanted to use a more monochromatic palette as well as less-Boho type beads.
Here's what it looks like on. I can wrap it 5x around my wrist if I want it to be completely flush to my skin or wrap it 4x for a looser fit.
This was version 1 - I like version 2 much better! The key differences are leather color (from brown to metallic pearl) and bead type (multi colored rounds vs. silver faceted crystal). What do you guys think?
Want to make your own? Check out this awesome tutorial from Ruby Mines (sorry this link no longer works, to see my version of the tutorial with video, click here)!
I like both of them. Each has their own look. It looks great on your wrist and it fits!!
ReplyDeletesuper cute! like PLG, i like both versions! i actually really like the 2nd bracelet's color, i love earthy tones.
ReplyDeleteOoh so pretty! I really love the monochromatic color scheme, I think it's much more sophisticated looking. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this version! I'm sure it goes with everything too :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this version! It's girly and blingy and I feel like it goes with more outfits than version 1. Have you thought about opening up your own Etsy shop? ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies!! Cee - I love the blingy look too :D
ReplyDeletecan you please tell us where you get your supplies? Do you have a supply list? I would be most grateful if you could post one. I am having trouble finding a place that sells the materials.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Grace
Hi Grace - Here's a link to my video tutorial that also includes a supply list. I've also copied it here for your convenience:
ReplyDelete2 yards of 2 mm leather cord
4 mm faceted beads
Nymo thread
Beading needle (personally I use a floss threader because I like that it's flexible without getting warped in the beading process - also any size thread will fit easily in the loop)
Beading glue (I use super glue because the bead glue I have turns white and crusty when dry)
Button with 2+ holes (needs to fit 2 mm cord, look for spare buttons around the house)
You can get just about everything at Michael's. For special leather colors (anything other than nude, brown, and black), look on eBay.
Thank you! What size Nymo thread?
ReplyDeleteGrace
Hi Grace - Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the size of Nymo because I think my store only has one size in a variety of colors. I would get something with a medium weight - not too thin and not too thick.
ReplyDeleteGrace - the size of the Nymo is "D"
ReplyDeleteI cannot see the video tutorial =(
ReplyDeleteHi Rose! You can see the video either at this post:

HI you did great keep it up. thanks sandy
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love these bracelets, but hated the prices I saw them going for. Thanks so much for the tutorial. It took me less than an hour to complete a bracelet. I think I'll be making more of these to sell on my etsy shop. :)
ReplyDeleteDo you happen to know how to make a triple-row bracelet? I love making these single row bracelets, but I'm really liking the triple row, too!
ReplyDeleteSandy - Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteJackie - I'm so glad the tutorial worked for you!
LivPurpleNow - I've never tried making a triple row bracelet but I'll play around to see if I can make one. If I'm successful, I'll be sure to post a video tutorial :)
I love the 2nd one! It is very chic and feminine. I'm currently on bedrest with my 3rd child, 7 weeks to go. So I've decided to make all my "bedrest helpers" bracelets as a thank you while I'm lounging around in bed - LOL. Anyway I've used some beadalon thread but it only comes in black and white and I'm looking for something colored to match different color leathers. I've noticed you have some different color thread - what is it? and where do you get it? Chan Luu uses some sort of cotton cord but I've yet to figure out what that is. I can't go all over town looking so I need to know what to get before I tell hubby to go to the store to get it for me.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is really great, I've read all the maternity posts. I can't believe you had your baby in the elevator - Wow - what an experience and a great story to tell her later. :)
