The yellow lace sheath features little gathered pleats on the skirt while the blue paisley features 2 large pleats + little sleeves.

It's a shame that the blue paisley pattern gets lost when viewed from a distance. I think it's so pretty!
I wanted to try sleeves for something different on the paisley, but I'm not loving this look. I'm currently debating adding structured sleeves (like Wendy's here) or making it sleeveless.
What do you think? Different sleeves or no sleeves on the blue dress?
Very pretty! Will adding the structured sleeves to the paisley still allow you to wear a cardigan over it without looking lumpy? If so, I say go for it! It is a cute look!
ReplyDeleteHmm, good question! Will have to play around and see!
DeleteI love the no sleeves on the blue dress :) though Wendy's version is quite cute too :) Wow I love how you can sew pretty much anything!

SPG, have you gone pro lately? You can replicate practically any dress J. Crew prints in its catalog - for cheaper and with greater quality. I *really* need to learn how to sew so I can start making my own shift dresses and silky blouses.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, way to go - you look radiant! (and possibly better than in any other dress).
You're amazing. If I were as talented as you, then I might never have to buy clothes again. I'd just make them myself if I knew how...lol. I love the yellow dress. as for the the blue paisley, I think that no sleeves makes it more versatile. but I'm sure whatever you do will look great.

I like those structured sleeves a lot. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! SPG, those are 2 beautiful dresses!! Love the detailing. I like it without sleeves.
ReplyDeletegreat jobon both dresses!! i love the cap sleeves to. would love to see you incorporate it!!
ReplyDeletei really love the sleeves on the blue dress in the pic. they look so elegant. such a great pattern on both of them.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing job on the dresses. I would love to see the cap sleeves on the blue dress. Can you pin out the sleeves to the dress and show us it looks with the sleeves?
ReplyDeleteI can do you one better. I have a post coming up that will have a black dress with the structured sleeves :)
DeleteOMG they are both gorgeous! The paisley one is my favorite!! I actually really like the way the sleeves are already! You are so talented!

Keep those interesting sleeves! They also make the arms look more slender.
ReplyDeleteWhen my weight fluctuates the 1 or 2 lbs due to the lovely cycle, my upper arms get that little dumpling bulge viewable from the front so I tend to look for tops with features/details that give the illusion of more slender arms = ).
The structured sleeves on Wendy's dress is a good alternative though! I think the current sleeves work better with the print of your dress though.
DeleteThanks for weighing in! I very much appreciate it :) I have a structured sleeves post coming up - probably Sunday.
Deletelove the prints!!

Thank you! They make for a great tummy hider :)
DeleteI'd go without sleeves. So much more versatile. Add interest with a little jacket.
ReplyDeleteYou never cease to amaze. I think structured sleeves. That'd be cool to see!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you are just amazing. I can't believe you made these! I love both of these dresses. For the blue dress, I think the structured sleeves would look really nice.

Beautiful dresses, you are talented !!
ReplyDeleteI love the lace over the yellow one. And you could make a cap sleeve for the blue one, and detachable! LOL, I have no idea. You're the expert!
ReplyDeleteGerçekten çok hoş elbiseler.
