Nautical (DIY) + Gingham + Bright Accessories

Remember this Pinterest image I repinned from Aubrey?  I tried it with the dotted skirt but the proportions didn't look right on me so I decided to try it with a slimmer skirt.  I tied the ends of the shirt to make it look more feminine (and outright copied Cee).

I love that this pattern incorporates buttons and hip ruching to set it apart from other pencil skirts.

I don't have any orange heels so threw in some yellow ones - should I have gone with neutral colored shoe instead?

      Thanks Annie! I was in a silver phase when I made this skirt but am now thinking maybe I should have gone with gold!

    Isn't yellow and blue such a great combo? I can't wait to wear it all summer :)

    The sailor-esque skirt with gold buttons - *GASP* I love, love it! I tried on a pair of navy wide-legged pants awhile back that had gold buttons positioned similarly. Unfortunately the fit wasn't ideal so it was a return. Otherwise we could've been twins, haha.

    First of, no, neutral shoes wouldn't have worked. You need a pop of color because (at least according to what not to wear) navy is a neutral already. Orange would have been nice but I haven't realized it until you mentioned it (as in, it doesn't actually matter then). I really love the details in this skirt; the pocket studs make it very unique. Are you on a nautical kick lately?

    I am so jealous of you being able to sew this skirt. I got the Burdastyle pattern a long time ago and cut out all the pieces of the fabric, but then was stumped on the first step of sewing the pockets. Now I just have all this useless fabric that will never be a Kasia skirt. Oh well.

    Super cute on you though! maybe one day I will finish (or start) mine!
