I love that this pattern incorporates buttons and hip ruching to set it apart from other pencil skirts.
I don't have any orange heels so threw in some yellow ones - should I have gone with neutral colored shoe instead?
I like the yellow shoes with this outfit:) you did a great job on the skirt- love the buttons!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie! I was in a silver phase when I made this skirt but am now thinking maybe I should have gone with gold!
DeleteI love how this turned out! Very cute!

DeleteI like the yellow shoes with the outfit. It add just the right pop of color to the outfit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ying! Glad the orange and yellow together looked ok :)
DeleteYou look lovely and I actually like the yellow shoes!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! :)
DeleteThis is a great look, the yellow shoes are perfect ! no neutrals with this neutral outfit!
ReplyDeleteEvita
Thanks for the feedback, Evita! :)
DeleteI love the yellow with the blue! Also complements the orange accessories. Nicely done!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet - thanks Lisa!
DeleteI vote yellow! I agree the ruching and especially the buttons add a bit of zing to the ol' pencil skirt. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm a sucker for things like that :)
DeleteI love the skirt you made and the first pic was a great pinterest inspired look :)

Isn't yellow and blue such a great combo? I can't wait to wear it all summer :)
ReplyDeleteThe sailor-esque skirt with gold buttons - *GASP* I love, love it! I tried on a pair of navy wide-legged pants awhile back that had gold buttons positioned similarly. Unfortunately the fit wasn't ideal so it was a return. Otherwise we could've been twins, haha.
LOL about twins! I think you would look spectacular in navy sailor pants! I'll keep my eyes peeled :)
DeleteGingham anything makes me an instant fan - and I love this outfit even more because you made that skirt!!!!! Oh ... jealous over your sewing prowess.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa! I'm so loving gingham right now!
DeleteI love nautical inspired looks & gingham. That is such a lovely skirt.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Big nautical fan over here too :)
DeleteThis is such a cute look! I think I repinned the same inspirational image on Pinterest--love the way you've interpreted it. That skirt is beautiful, and I love the yellow heels with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tam! It's a great image - I heart Pinterest for all the inspirational ideas :)
DeleteLooking good. And yeah, the yellow shoes. Nice touch. Hope you saw my 2 replies. One was about sleep! Hope Miss E is changing it up on you...in a good way!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gigi! I did read your replies and am so appreciative that you took the time to write out your experiences :)
DeleteFirst of, no, neutral shoes wouldn't have worked. You need a pop of color because (at least according to what not to wear) navy is a neutral already. Orange would have been nice but I haven't realized it until you mentioned it (as in, it doesn't actually matter then). I really love the details in this skirt; the pocket studs make it very unique. Are you on a nautical kick lately?
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna! I am SO on a nautical kick. I've always been a fan, especially in the spring, but this year I'm full-tilt obsessed!
DeleteI like this look, the skirt is definitely something different from your regular pencil skirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bessie! :)
Deleteperfectly paired w/your horsebit bracelet.
ReplyDeleteI love the added touches of nautical in this outfit vs. the one i pinned, which was more stepford wives.
Thanks Aubrey! I love when something gets Aubrey-approved! :)

I love that you provide so much details and helpful tips and all of your DIYs are amazing. Love seeing all the crafty work! xo
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of you being able to sew this skirt. I got the Burdastyle pattern a long time ago and cut out all the pieces of the fabric, but then was stumped on the first step of sewing the pockets. Now I just have all this useless fabric that will never be a Kasia skirt. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute on you though! maybe one day I will finish (or start) mine!
I cannot believe you made that skirt! It looks a-maz-ing!
ReplyDeleteI love this ENTIRE outfit! The yellow shoes are perfection with it, definitely! :)
Cheers!
