LOFT Inspired Bow & Rhinestone Sweater DIY Tutorial

I originally tried this on a few weeks ago and have still been thinking about it.  A clue to either buy it or DIY it.  I chose the cheaper route ;)

Inspiration and DIY'ed Version

I know I made the bow a little too big, but I'm hoping to also use this as a neck tie like this:

What I Used:

• Black Ribbon (mine is 7/8" wide, grosgrain)
• Pin
• Rhinestone Strand (necklace, piece of trim, jewelry supply - any of these will work)
• Needle & Thread
• Striped Sweater

What I Did:

Take a loop of ribbon for your bow (mine was about 13" long) and sew the ends together where my pin is.  The sewn ends will be the center back of your bow so they won't be visible.

Take another length of ribbon (mine was about 16" long) and wrap it around your bow loop.

Arrange the tails into a "V" shape and secure with a few stitches.

Attach your pin backing with a few stitches or glue.

Angle the tails and seal the ends from fraying with Fray Check or clear nail polish.  Your pin is done!

Align your rhinestone strand with the shoulder seam and add a few stitches to secure the end.

Add a stitch at regular intervals to secure.

Then pin your bow on.

And voila, you're done!  A simple way to update a sweater.  The best thing is that these are easily removable when you're tired of it :)
