DIY Colorblocked Maxi Dress OOTD

Remember my t-shirt to colorblocked maxi dress tutorial a little while ago?  Some of you asked to see what it looked like on me and of course I had to oblige :)

Dress:  DIY Striped Colorblock Maxi Dress
Necklace:  DIY Looped Rope Necklace
Belt:  Lands End Nautical Rope Belt
Shoes:  THE comfiest sandals in the world!  I bought these ~15 years ago and have been wearing them every single summer.  They are so old that I can't even tell what brand or size they are anymore.
Sunnies:  Gucci

The perfect thing about a t-shirt dress is the ability to either look "normal" or s-t-r-e-t-c-h to accommodate my baby bump :)

  2. so cute! just love the color-combo for summer too. I can't believe those sandals have lasted 15 years! I don't think I own any shoes that lasted that long, I must walk around pretty roughly.

  3. Wait, 15 years? I'm a bit speechless - I've never heard of any shoe that has evaded death for this long. I dub them the George Burns of Shoes.

You have a real eye for style - I tried to DIY a dress before and came out with a throw blanket for my cat. You threw together a few old tees and came up with a beautiful dress that is functional during and post pregnancy. It really does make you look very beautiful!

  12. Yay! This dress looks amazing on you! I like that it works with the belly, and in the future, without! I'm going to miss your pregnant belly though! :D I'm also now curious about these comfy shoes of yours! Maybe a close-up of your feet in the future? Hahaha, does that sound creepy? =P

  13. Omg..amazing! I've been searching for a DIY Maxi Dress AND I'M PREGO too. So this is definately on my to do list. One question, do I have to add any inches for the ever expanding belly. I'm five months so I still have a ways to go. I am going to make a few of these. :)

  18. Fashion and Number - Thanks so much! I hope you have a great weekend too!

Olyvia - Thanks! I so heart these shoes and can you believe I haven't had any work done on them yet? I think I will get them resoled at the end of summer but 15 years is an amazing run.

Anna - Thank you for the super sweet words! These sandals are my faves! I only wish I knew what brand they were so I could buy more, but maybe this one is just a fluke. I remember buying it at the mall for ~$40ish.

QFFS - Thank you! I'm just a nut for nautical looks so ropes are very much up my alley :)

Timothy - Thanks for the kind words and for following! :)

Newpetite - Thanks so much! I'm missing your posts, are you taking a blogging break?

Lisa - LOL, you are such a sweetheart - thank you! You alway make my day :)

Bree - Thank you! The pregnancy's been going pretty well though I do get rather tired very easily right now :)

    Francesca - Thank you, doll!

Amber - It may take a while for me to lose the tummy but I'll definitely be showing clothes worn during pregnancy as post-maternity garments as well :)

LePetiteLemon - Thank you! LOL! I promise to take a better pic of them and post it :)

XoxoPetite - Congrats on your pregnancy!! Is this your first pregnancy? What I did for this was basically left it unshaped except at the collar and chest. It should work throughout your pregnancy and then you can go back and taper it afterwards if you want - hope this helps!

Elaine, Michelle - Thanks so much!

Sharon - Thank you! I'd love to see your finished creation!

Cee - That is definitely the beauty to t-shirt material - LOVE IT! We're definitely nearing the end :D

Aki - Thanks so much! Let me know if you decide to try it! :)
