  1. What a coincidence, I was planning to make a slipcover for a bed in my spare bedroom/sewing studio. Can't wait to see how you did yours for some tips.

    1. Happy coincidence! The slipcover is essentially a pillow case with modified corners at the top and the ends are then tucked at the bottom - I'll have the pictures and steps up soon :)

  2. looks wonderful!

I was also wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to make one of your fit and flare dresses. I love the ones at kate spade, but they're out of my price range, and I recently started sewing. I loved your kate spade inspired one! (I've been following you for quite some time, but this is my first comment!)

    1. Hello and thank you!

The bodice for a fit and flare is a bit tricky for tutorial creation due to the darting, but you can purchase a pattern and it will give you sizing / dart placement / everything you need in a simple-to-use way. If you wait for a sale at Joann's, a pattern will typically run around $1 to $1.50. The bodice I always use is McCall M5972 (modified this way: http://sewpetitegal.blogspot.com/2012/12/tutorial-altering-commercial-pattern.html) with a rectangle a little more than twice as wide as my waist and at my desired length i.e. 56" wide and 22" long (make sure to add a little length for hemming) for the skirt.

The skirt can then either be gathered or pleated, here are some tutorials:
      Box Pleats - http://sewpetitegal.blogspot.com/2013/08/tutorial-box-pleated-skirt-diy.html
      Gathered - http://sewpetitegal.blogspot.com/2013/05/j-crew-inspired-skirt-diy-tutorial.html

      Hope that helps!

    2. Thank you for your response! That was very helpful. I'll definitely be picking up a pattern when Joann's has a sale!
