Before & After: Bathroom Renovation

It's been awhile since I've done a home post, and primarily, it's because our bathroom has been under construction for awhile.  I'm happy to say it's finally complete!

When we first moved in, the bathroom needed some major updating - carpeted floors (ick), tiny tiles w/ endless grout, chipped brass fixtures, and a leaky shower head.  Here are some before and after pics:

Updated fixtures (with a shower head to spray down the tub - yay!) and tub, replaced tile surround with stacked stone and porcelain

Replaced shower doors with frameless glass, updated tile and fixtures, extended the bench

Ripped out carpet and replaced with the porcelain tile you see in the above pics, replaced maple cabinets with espresso, updated sink / fixtures / mirror / countertop / lighting, painted a pale gray

And finished it w/ some espresso and stainless steel accessories.
I LOVE the Ikea Droppar jars for Q-tips and cotton balls.  The styling caddy is convenient since it declutters the counter and allows me to put the straightener away even when hot.

Next up, I'd like to create some artwork for the walls.  Given that I'm not particularly artistic, this will be interesting :)

    1. Thanks Michelle! I was glad that the owner put in new carpet when they moved out, but was still kind of grossed out by the concept, lol

  2. Looks amazing! We're getting quotes for our master bath now, trying to decide if it's worth it to update or just save up to upgrade to a bigger place altogether.

    1. Thanks Emily! Don't go with the big box stores! They have some horrible follow-through reviews and they certainly weren't priced competitively either.

  3. Wow, that looks amazing! Did you do it yourself or hire a contractor? We've been looking at options of updating our bath, but after the quotes came in, we're kinda not sure anymore, lol!

    1. Oh no, we'd never ever be able to do this kind of home improvement! We got many, many quotes before one sounded reasonable. It was a long process, but I'm glad we did it

    1. LOL, I thought about it! But the mess and the products? Better to just photograph my side :)

  7. Really really like the upgrades. Seriously, who puts carpet in the bathroom? So weird. Love the shower stall and that you extended the bench. Enjoy soothing baths in front of that fireplace. Wow!

    1. I know, right? Carpet just seems like it'd collect a cesspool of germs in moist area. Thanks Lisa :)

  11. The renovation is really neat! The new bathroom looks really modern and classy. Having a carpet for the bathroom floor isn’t really ideal, so it's good that you got rid of that. All in all, the entire bathroom looks really amazing. Good job!

  13. Wow! The renovation of your bathroom was done flawlessly. I really love the new and improved shower room glass wall. It now looks more revealing, but in a very modern and great way. Well, the other things you added are all cool, especially the elegant countertop. You really did a great job in there. Thanks for sharing that! Kudos and all the best to you!
