I'm back and I found some DIYs in my closet that I hadn't posted yet - winning (geez, that was a long time ago)! Today's featured DIY is
another [[drumroll, please]] nautically inspired item in the same vein as my
chevron skirt. Did you know that Ralph Lauren makes outdoor fabric? Even though it's not apparel-friendly (it's a bit stiff, the weave is pretty open, and it's not washable), I couldn't resist the sailboat print. Though I typically associate nautical with spring / summer, I'm going to see if I can make it work for fall :) Please excuse the iPhone pics, I haven't found / unpacked my camera remote yet.
L) Summer look (I wore this yesterday since we were in the mid-70s):
LOFT Top, DIY'd Sailing Skirt, and my trusty decade-and-a-half old sandals
R) Fall look:
Banana Republic Sweater, DIY'd Sailing Skirt, Tory Burch Reva Flats, and Banana Republic Statement Necklace
Can nautical work in fall? Any tips?
Nautical can work in the fall just fine if you pair it with items like turtlenecks, leather/suede jackets, and scarves. That's why I like the look to the right - you're keeping the top simple and autumn-appropriate while the skirt speaks for itself.
ReplyDeleteAlmost forgot to add that it's great to see you back here. I hope the move wasn't too stressful and that you've settled in your new home with ease!

I actually like the fall look better - how do you clean the skirt, dry clean? The print is so Anthro and cute!

How will you wash it if it's not washable?? Of course it can work with fall! Pairing it with dark colors seems to do the trick
ReplyDeleteHaha, you don't! I think the care instructions said to wipe it down :S So, this is a temporary skirt at best.
