Pregnant PFC #9: Heat Wave Appropriate

It's (Pregnant)PFC time and this month's host is the ever-lovely Elle of Fast Food and Fast Fashion!  I've probably got maybe 1 more pregnancy PFC left in me and then it'll be PFCs dealing with post-preggy belly LOL.

The Challenge:

When it comes to New England weather, there is rarely an ambient temperature. When I am not suffocating in the heat outside I am bundled up and hanging onto my winter coat for dear life inside the confines of the well air-conditioned office walls.

With this dilemma in mind, I challenge you all to create an outfit that accounts for the various environmental factors that plague us in the summer. I want to know how you dress when it's 90 degrees outside and 65 degrees inside. Do you utilize peel-able layers? Are you particular about choosing fabric that is light but resistant? Or do you just tack on a blazer over summer clothes?

So there's really no such thing as me feeling cool nowadays (esp. since my office is actually 76 degrees rather than the 60s that it used to be) but I'll pretend for the sake of the challenge ;)

I can't say that I got very creative with this challenge but my typical go-to in this kind of circumstance is a lightweight cardigan.  What I like about this particular cardi is the lace back allows air in but the sleeves keep you warm.

Top:  Lauren by Ralph Lauren Isidro Pleated Lace Top
Cardigan:  Lauren Conrad Lace Back Cardigan
Pants:  Motherhood Maternity, Black Trousers
Necklaces:  Target Chunky Pearls + Freshwater Pearls
Shoes:  Target Mossimo Pearce Pumps
Bag:  "Charlotte" Vintage Messenger

And when it comes to going outdoors (most notably to commute back home), I just slip off the cardigan and probably roll up my pants (shh - I am just driving home after all) :)  The shell itself is a nice, lightweight stretchy cotton.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else's entries!

  3. So pretty! I love seeing you in office wear, it must be hard to dress for pregnancy comfort and an office environment. Great job SPG :)

  4. The top looks fantastic on you - the ruffly top balances out the pregnant belly! Have you ever noticed that? The cardigan idea is cute - I have a purple one that's all lace and long sleeves, so sometimes I'm simultaneously hot and cold.

Any chance you could use the maternity trousers after giving birth? They're actually very flattering and it would be a shame if you only wear them during the time you're pregnant.

Great way to pull off the challenge! I always like to see your outfits.

  10. Hahaha, I roll up my pants too while commuting. If I'm wearing a skirt, that'll get hiked up :) I love how you look so put together in this heat while pregnant. That's no easy task. The back of the sweater is beautiful and perfectly complements the Victorian-style blouse. Love this, SPG!

  20. Purses and Puppies - Aww, thanks so much! Yep, I am just about there! My son came 3 weeks early and I'm wondering if Baby Girl will do the same. I was also the one who asked about your leather preference :)

Fashion and Number - Thank you! It's definitely a classic type of combo - hard to mess up, even for me LOL.

Elaine - Thank you! I'm just thankful that my work environment isn't more formal so I can wear maxi dresses (as long as they aren't strapless/skimpy-strapped) when I want :)

Anna - Thanks so much! I hadn't even noticed about the ruffle, but that makes total sense! LOL about being simultaneously hot and cold - summer can be such a hard time to dress for especially when dealing with multiple environments. I do wear the maternity pants for about the 1st month or so after giving birth due to the remaining tummy but otherwise, they'd just slip off - not pretty! :)

Jessy - Thank you! Bigger belly to come! Baby grows fast these last few weeks :)

Michelle - Thank you! This definitely reminds me of Elle! :)

Vicky - Thank you so much! Hopefully, one more month of hot weather and then things will cool down for Baby Girl's arrival :)

Jess - Thank you for your kind words! The lace definitely adds a little extra something plus has a great cooling effect :)

    Newpetite - Thank you! :)

Cee - Thanks so much! LOL, glad it's not just me who does the rolling / hiking up!

  21. Lisa - Aww, thank you for the sweet words! You are too nice! :)

Francesca - Thank you!! I do love the lace - great cover-up and summer friendly!

Mimi - Thank you! Comfort is definitely important nowadays! :)

Kileen - Thank you! The lace back definitely adds some visual interest to a tame outfit :)

Katherine - Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Olyvia - Thank you! Those shift/trapeze dresses are definitely going to come in handy! You can also belt them when the time comes to show off your preggy belly :)

Annie - Thank you doll! You always have such a great work look so your comment means a lot to me :)

Kiki - Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!

Erin - Thank you! I joke with hubby that Baby Girl must hate summer as much as I do so she's not even going to reveal herself to the world until it's over :D
